It was scary but needed

Some of you knew that I had a biopsy this week… and I never thought that I would be so anxious, lose sleep, and would be so weepy.

Thank God, it’s all right. I only have to have mammograms every 6 months as a follow-up.

I did not  exercise and had tons of comfort food, and was nurturing myself… just in case. My husband was freaking out and treating me like a dying person. He was actully terrified.

Although I can’t do weights for some time, I am back to walking and doing lower body exercises.

Thank you for your support, those who kept asking. I am on a mission to remain healthy; it’s the greatest treasure, our health.

Please, get your annual exams and if you are after 40, get your mammograms. Life is too short to neglect health.

Pushups… The followup to my blog on hateful exercises

Just read this in NYT.

According to this article, I have to be able to do 16 pushups… yeah right. I do 5 and feel so miserable… Well, at least there is a goal for this year to do more pushups.

My Shoulders Have a Life of Their Own

Yes, that’s right. They almost automatically go back and down. My posture is nice and I feel taller and slimmer. It’s the result of working with the trainer and using weights evenly to strengthen small and big muscles. I never thought that I was overworking one group of muscles and neglecting some others. Balance is the key. No more slouching. Gosh, it’s such a foreign feeling when the most comfortable and “natural” pose is to keep my back straight and my shoulders away from my neck.

I have been learning a lot from my trainer. She taught me to stretch after workouts. Stretch through pain I can tolerate and elongate the muscles that are tense and shortened because of exercises.

There are some exercises that I hate… because the muscles that are involved in those exercises are weak. There are some exercises that I like because the muscles that work there are strong. My body was totally out of balance before I started working out with her. What is the lesson there? If you hate pushups, it means that you need to do them regularly. If your back is weak, work it. Work through discomfort and pain to fire up muscles that were lying dormant and not working.

I have a list of 5 exercises that I absolutely, totally can’t stand. Well, she makes me do them all the time, hence the nice posture and no more pains and aches in different places. I wonder what exercises are on your list that you don’t care to do because it’s too difficult?

Happy International Women’s Day!

It’s a big holiday in Europe and is generally ignored in the U.S.

I wish all the beautiful women on Buddy Slim to have a great time today and honor your inner Goddess.

In Europe, women get royal treatment by men everywhere. In the office, at home, and on the streets. Women get presents, flowers, cards, and enjoy doing nothing while men do some typical “women’s” duties: cleaning, cooking, and taking care of children.

I still trying to educate my husband about that day… ugghh..

Off to clean my house!
